Karolina Skowron-Baka is the author of the book “Feminism Is Veganism”, as well as a social activist and advocate for animal rights, women’s rights, and LGBT+ rights. She is a recipient of the Grand Prix Vege award (granted by Vege magazine since 2012 to individuals promoting veganism, animal rights, ecology, and love for the planet).
The activist is the Managing Director of the international organization Animal Advocacy Careers, where she supports the development of leaders and professionals in the pro-animal movement worldwide. From 2020 to 2024, she served as Managing Director of Akcja Demokracja, Poland’s largest campaigning organization focused on human rights, climate, democracy, and social justice. She contributed to changes in corporate policies regarding farm animals while leading the Polish branch of the Albert Schweitzer Foundation—an animal advocacy organization (2019–2020), where she had also served as Director of Corporate Relations (2017–2019). She co-founded a parliamentary team on farm animal welfare. For many years, she has been connecting the animal advocacy and feminist movements, among others as the initiator of the Animal Center, founder of Vegan Ladyboss Poland, and as a speaker at national and international conferences dedicated to pro-animal, feminist, and human rights ideas. She holds a degree in Sociology from the London School of Economics, a degree in Global Diplomacy from SOAS (University of London), and completed studies in Rhetoric at the Polish Academy of Sciences.
